Really great article!!! It is working fine and help to find resources.

A day ago, I have tested some websites on another tool https://www.sha2sslchecker.com/. It provides detail information about the certificate. It is very helpful to complete my research study.

I am surprised, while I tested google.com. Still, they are using a SHA-1 certificate.

Even, most leading ssl vendors symantec.com, comodo.com, globalsign.com, geotrust.com, thawte.com, namecheap.com haven’t upgraded their certificates SHA-1 to SHA-2.

Symantec is using two different certificates for symantec.com (with SHA-1)and http://www.symantec.com (with SHA-2)

I have also tested some ssl vendors who are serious about their security and they have the SHA-2 certificate. – digicert.com, entrust.com, ssl2buy.com, qualityssl.com, prontossl.com

Wow, that is crazy! I have heard a few being sold, but this is much different. This should make companies, orgs and government agencies understand they need to be more aggressive with their online presence.

This is the worst policy. I can’t believe that Google and Bing would turn their heads to competitors, affiliates, arbitragers and whoever else bidding on a term that someone spend thousands and thousands of dollars on to protect.

What I find interesting, I don’t see any Bing ads when I search on Google for “google adwords”. I can’t imagine Bing or anyone else wouldn’t be advertising on that keyword.

I also don’t see any Google AdWords ads when I search in Bing for “bing adcenter”.

Feels a little hypocritical.

Social Media is definitely awesome in many respects, previously the best benefit was the low-to-no-cost traffic you could generate, but now the SEO value will likely outweigh the low-cost traffic over time. Especially with Google+.

I imagine the most recent Google Algorithm update: Hummingbird will better position G+ articles and SMO for SEO love in the future.

I would probably disagree that SEO is dead, I see SMO as more of an evolution of SEO.

Some very good points well made here. It’s becoming increasingly obvious that site owners and founders need to start putting as much emphasis on SMO as they do on SEO.

SMO is an interesting topic. I don’t think we should call off SEO just open our eyes to other things such as SMO. But have I understood it correct that SMO is for instance hashtagging your updates and so on?

A problem is that people don’t really use their search-engines on e.g. facebook to find new partners, products,etc. It has to be shared before people see it. In my opinion ofc.
